SBI Advises Customers to Complete Banking Work Before September 28-30 Strike

New Delhi: State Bank of India (SBI) has advised customers to complete important branch-related banking transactions in advance of the proposed three-day nationwide strike by bank unions from September 28 to 30, 2026.

The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has issued strike notices for September 28, 29 and 30, following its one-day strike on September 11. The unions have also announced a continuous strike from October 26 if their demands remain unresolved.

SBI said it has made arrangements to maintain banking operations during the proposed strike. However, the bank cautioned that branch and office work could still be affected depending on employee participation.

Customers have therefore been advised to plan transactions that require a physical visit to a branch ahead of the strike dates. Services involving staff assistance, document verification and other branch-dependent processes could face delays or disruption.

For routine banking requirements, customers can use SBI's digital and alternative channels, including internet banking, mobile banking, YONO, UPI, ATMs and Automated Deposit and Withdrawal Machines (ADWMs). Customer Service Points (CSPs) may also provide select banking services.

However, some services requiring physical documentation or direct branch intervention may not be fully available through digital channels.

The proposed three-day strike follows the unions' continuing agitation over issues including implementation of a five-day banking week and other pending demands.

With September 26 and 27 falling on Saturday and Sunday, customers who need branch-based services may face an extended period without normal weekday branch access around the September 28-30 strike dates.
