Telangana ACB Arrests Sangareddy Education Officer for Taking Rs 20,000 Bribe

<p>The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested the District Intermediate Education Officer (DIEO) of Sangareddy on Wednesday, September 9, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.</p>
<p>The accused officer, Ramavath Govind Ram, allegedly demanded the amount for conducting an inspection and submitting a report for the extension of provisional affiliation of Vikas Vocational Junior College in Sangareddy. The identity of the complainant was withheld for security reasons.</p>
<p>The alleged bribe amount was recovered from Govind Ram at the time of his arrest. He was subsequently produced before the Special Judge for the trial of SPE and ACB cases in Hyderabad. The case is currently under investigation.</p>
<p>Just a day before this arrest, the ACB caught two people, including a government officer, for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 90,000 in Narayanpet, Mahabubnagar district. Sub-Registrar Grade-II L Venkat Swamy had demanded the money from a complainant who had approached him for home registration work. Of the total amount demanded, Rs 50,000 had already been accepted through Kammari Nagesh, a private employee, before the ACB moved in.</p>
