Hyderabad: Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TGREDCO) has directed officials and implementing agencies to accelerate renewable energy projects across the state and complete them within the prescribed timelines.
TGREDCO Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Jithesh V Patil issued the instructions during a video conference with district managers and representatives of implementing agencies on Monday.
The meeting reviewed the progress of several renewable energy and energy conservation initiatives, with a focus on identifying implementation delays and resolving field-level challenges.
Review of Solar and Renewable Energy Programmes
During the meeting, officials presented updates on the following initiatives:
Model Solar Village Programme
Rooftop solar power installations
Solarisation of agricultural pump sets
PM-KUSUM scheme
Energy conservation activities
Electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure
Patil sought details about completed projects, ongoing work and pending approvals or other obstacles affecting implementation.
Focus on Rooftop Solar Installations
The TGREDCO MD instructed district managers to increase rooftop solar installations at eligible households, including beneficiaries under the Gruha Jyothi scheme.
He asked officials to create awareness among eligible consumers about the benefits of rooftop solar systems and speed up the installation process.
District teams were also directed to prepare action plans to achieve targets under agricultural pump-set solarisation and the PM-KUSUM scheme.
Officials Asked to Clear Project Delays
Patil instructed officials to coordinate with relevant departments to secure pending approvals and complete inspections without further delay.
He stressed that district managers and implementing agencies must work together with accountability to ensure that projects progress according to the prescribed targets and deadlines.
He also called for awareness campaigns across Telangana to encourage energy conservation, efficient electricity use and greater adoption of renewable energy sources.
The review comes amid concerns over delays in implementing some renewable energy initiatives, particularly solar power projects, across the state.
