Caracas: Venezuela's acting President Delcy Rodríguez has expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump and his administration for their support following the powerful earthquakes that struck the country.
In a message shared on social media, Rodríguez thanked the United States for staying in contact with Venezuelan authorities and offering assistance during the national emergency. She said the support and solidarity shown by the US would be remembered by the Venezuelan people.
The statement came after President Trump announced that the United States was ready to help Venezuela with relief efforts. The US government also confirmed that search-and-rescue teams, medical supplies and humanitarian assistance would be sent to support the disaster response.
Rodríguez also spoke with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who conveyed condolences to those affected and assured continued American assistance for rescue and relief operations.
The earthquakes caused widespread destruction in several parts of Venezuela, leading to heavy loss of life, injuries and major damage to buildings and infrastructure. Rescue teams from several countries continue to assist authorities in search and recovery efforts.
