Gudimalkapur Flower Market Blooms Ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi

<p>Hyderabad's Gudimalkapur flower market, widely recognised as South India's largest wholesale floral hub, has transformed into a riot of colour and activity as traders and artisans prepare for Ganesh Chaturthi.</p>
<p>Fresh flowers are arriving in bulk quantities every day from major floral belts across three states. Shipments are coming in from Bengaluru, Chikbalapur and Mysore in Karnataka; Kadapa, Vijayawada and Mylavaram in Andhra Pradesh; and key cultivation zones within Telangana. Department of Agricultural Marketing officials are closely monitoring these arrivals.</p>
<p>B Revanth, Grade-3 Secretary of the Gudimalkapur Agricultural Market Committee, said tonnes of fresh flowers were reaching the market daily and that a significant surge in activity was expected as the festival approaches. A marketing department official noted that the market receives 125 to 130 tonnes of flowers annually from these regions, with supplies doubling during festive seasons.</p>
<p>Around 2,000 traders participate in daily transactions between 3 am and 1 pm, selling garlands and loose flowers. More than 270 stalls are stocked with marigolds, jasmine, chrysanthemums and lilies sourced from neighbouring districts and states to meet the festival rush.</p>
<p>Trader V Shankar said thousands of Ganesh pandals across Hyderabad were sourcing intricate floral sheets and heavy garlands directly from Gudimalkapur to create elaborate settings for Lord Ganesha.</p>
