Hyderabad: A Telangana State Special Police (TSSP) head constable was arrested after his wife allegedly accused him of assaulting her at their residence in Yousufguda.
The accused was identified as Jalandhar Goud. According to the complaint, Goud allegedly returned home in an inebriated condition and assaulted his wife after she asked him to stop consuming alcohol.
The woman alleged that Goud punched her on the nose, resulting in bleeding injuries. She also told police that when she intervened after he allegedly abused their children late at night, he threatened her with serious consequences.
The complainant, Himayati, who married Goud in 2020, reportedly told police that she had faced similar alleged harassment in the past. She had also attempted to approach police in 2023 over three similar incidents but later returned to the relationship, citing the welfare of her children and concerns about her husband's job.
Jubilee Hills police said they registered a case based on the woman's complaint. Police identified the offence as using criminal force against a woman under Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Goud was arrested in connection with the case and was later released on station bail. Police are continuing their investigation into the allegations.
