KFC Outlet in Hyderabad Flagged for Unsafe Cooking Oil During Inspection

Hyderabad: Food safety officials found unsafe cooking oil at a KFC outlet in Hyderabad's Kondapur area during a recent inspection.

According to officials, the cooking oil being used at the restaurant did not meet quality standards and showed signs of excessive reuse. Inspectors observed that the oil had turned dark and emitted a strong unpleasant smell, indicating that it may have been used repeatedly for cooking.

The inspection team also found that the Total Polar Compounds (TPC) level in the oil exceeded the limit permitted under food safety regulations. High TPC levels indicate that cooking oil has deteriorated and is no longer suitable for food preparation.

Following the inspection, authorities said appropriate action is being taken as per food safety rules. Officials are reviewing the findings and may take further steps based on the final report.

The incident has raised concerns about food safety standards at food establishments and the need for regular monitoring of cooking practices. Experts advise restaurants to replace cooking oil at the required intervals to ensure customer safety.

Further action will be taken after the completion of the inspection process.
