New Delhi: OpenAI has introduced two new shopping features in ChatGPT that allow users to virtually try on clothes and accessories and save products for later.
The new features, announced on October 1, build on ChatGPT's shopping experience and the recently launched ChatGPT Images 2.5. OpenAI says Images 2.5 offers sharper details, more natural lighting, richer textures, more precise editing and faster image generation.
ChatGPT virtual try-on feature
The new “Try on” option allows users to see how eligible clothing and accessories could look on them. Users can select the Try on button on a product listing and upload or take a selfie to generate a virtual try-on image.
Users can also upload a photograph of a clothing item or accessory in a conversation and ask ChatGPT to show how it could look on them. Reference photos can be saved for future try-ons through ChatGPT's settings.
OpenAI cautions that virtual try-on images may not exactly represent a product or a user's appearance and do not guarantee fit or size. Users are advised to check the merchant's measurements, product information and return policy before purchasing.
Save products with Favourites
ChatGPT has also introduced Favourites, allowing users to save products to their ChatGPT Library and return to them later. Users can also create folders to organise saved products.
The shopping experience also allows users to discover products based on visual inspiration and conversational requests. Users can upload an image of an item they like and ask ChatGPT to find similar products.
The latest features expand ChatGPT's role in product discovery, where users can browse, compare and now virtually preview certain products before making a purchase. OpenAI's shopping tools are available on ChatGPT's web and mobile versions.
The new shopping capabilities arrive as other major technology platforms continue developing visual shopping and virtual try-on tools. OpenAI's latest update adds these capabilities directly within ChatGPT's existing shopping experience.
