Telangana DGP CV Anand Warns Police Against Dancing in Uniform

Hyderabad: Telangana Director General of Police CV Anand has reportedly instructed police personnel not to take part in dances or other entertainment activities while wearing their official uniforms, with disciplinary action warned for violations.

The directive comes amid instances of police personnel participating in private functions, festivals and public gatherings while in uniform. Some have been seen dancing, delivering speeches or joining entertainment programmes at such events.

Focus on Police Uniform and Discipline

According to instructions circulated among personnel in a district, police officers and staff should not participate in dances or similar programmes while wearing their uniforms. The communication, issued in the name of the DGP’s directions, warned that disciplinary proceedings could follow if the instructions were ignored.

Senior officers have reportedly been asked to communicate the order to personnel and ensure compliance.

The police uniform represents authority, discipline and public responsibility. Officials are understood to have emphasised that it should be worn in a manner consistent with the standards and dignity of the force.

Scope of the Directive Remains Unclear

The move follows public attention surrounding instances of police personnel participating in entertainment activities during festivals and other events.

However, the precise scope of the reported directive was not immediately clear, including whether it covers official cultural programmes, ceremonial occasions or other authorised events.

The instructions are intended to reinforce professional conduct and maintain public confidence in the police force.
