Hyderabad: Jamia Nizamia has stated that the land recently auctioned by the Telangana government in Raidurg is part of a Waqf property and should not have been sold while the ownership dispute remains unresolved.
According to the institution, the land was donated to Jamia Nizamia by Nawab Ghazi Yar Jung Bahadur in 1958. It said the property has been under legal dispute for several years and that its ownership is still being contested.
The seminary has requested the Telangana government to halt all further activities related to the auction until the matter is decided through the legal process.
Jamia Nizamia also appealed to the Telangana State Waqf Board to take appropriate steps to protect what it claims is Waqf land.
The disputed property is part of a larger land parcel in Raidurg that has been the subject of legal proceedings and ownership claims for many years.
The Telangana government has not officially responded to Jamia Nizamia's latest claims. The ownership issue continues to remain before the courts.
