Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to conduct a detailed inquiry into the death of District Transport Officer (DTO) P. Srinivas in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district.
Srinivas was performing official duties as part of a vehicle inspection operation when the incident occurred. Authorities said a coal-laden truck was involved in the accident that claimed the officer's life.
Following the incident, the government constituted a special committee to examine the circumstances surrounding the case. The panel has been tasked with gathering facts, reviewing procedures followed during the inspection drive and submitting a report to the government.
Officials said the committee will also study the working conditions of transport department personnel and recommend steps to improve their safety while conducting roadside inspections and enforcement activities.
The incident has sparked concern among transport department employees, who have called for stronger protection measures for officers working in the field.
The government is expected to take further action after receiving the committee's findings and recommendations.
