California: A former senior executive at Meta has taken the company to court, alleging that it attempted to stop her from promoting and discussing her memoir, which describes her years working at Facebook before it became Meta.
Sarah Wynn-Williams claims the company used legal agreements and arbitration proceedings to restrict her from publicly speaking about the book. According to the lawsuit, she believes those restrictions unfairly limit her right to share her personal experiences.
The memoir, titled Careless People, includes claims about Meta's workplace culture, leadership, and internal decision-making during her time with the company.
Meta has strongly denied the allegations. The company says Wynn-Williams violated the terms of agreements she signed when leaving the organisation and argues that the legal dispute is unrelated to free speech.
Through the lawsuit, Wynn-Williams is asking the court to remove the restrictions so she can openly discuss her book and its contents. The case has drawn attention to broader questions about employee confidentiality, whistleblower protections, and freedom of expression within large technology companies.
The legal proceedings are expected to continue as both sides present their arguments before the court.
